Declaration of Ecology Public Organizations of Tajikistan on signing the Copenhagen agreement on climate change.

1 ноября 2009

To the Government of Republic of Tajikistan

Declaration

of Ecology Public Organizations of Tajikistan on signing the Copenhagen agreement on climate change.

In December 2009, in Copenhagen (Denmark) 189 countries should finish drawing up and sign a new international agreement on global climate changes control that will replace Kioto protocol by 2013 year. Approving the effective post-Kioto agreement in Copenhagen is equitable to the interest of Tajikistan that experiences negative consequences of climate change.

We – the network of public organizations of Tajikistan on climate change issues – as a coalition, consisting of 15 ecology public organizations of the Republic and participants of National conference «On the way to Copenhagen» on climate change issues that was held from 21 to 23rd October 2009 urge the Government of Republic of Tajikistan for:

  ·     Support the stand of several developing countries and large ecology organizations in the necessity to keep the global warming at 20С level, to reduce the level of CO2 equivalent in atmosphere down to 350 ppm and the global emission of greenhouse gases by 80% by 2050 as compared to the level effective in 1990.

· ·            Admit, that the activities of only developed countries will be insufficient to prevent the negative consequences of climate change and bear voluntary obligations on reducing the emission of greenhouse gases and adaptation in exchange for partial financial support and technology transfer;

··             Demonstrate the willingness to take the moral responsibility for the future of Tajikistan and of Earth, and sign the new post-Kioto agreement in Copenhangen  in December 2009 on 15th conference of parties – participating in UN Framework convention on climate change.

More detail declarations and recommendations on climate change, adaptation and energy issues, elaborated by ecology public organizations of the Republic on the Conference «On the way to Copenhagen» are attached to this letter.
