Activities
The Youth Ecological Centre (YEC) is a Republican public socio-ecological organization, the mission of which is capacity building of youth groups and communities with the goal of improving local socio-ecological situation and upgrading the role of the youth and communities in making decisions on sustainable development issues.
The EcoCentre has working:
- Information service and a Resource Centre
- Service for working with communities
- Service for working with the youth
In the EcoCenter there also function:
- a youth volunteer centre and a debate club
- a program of work on education for sustainable development
- a Disaster Risk Reduction program
- a program on the issues of the global climate change and community adaptation
- a program on alternative energy
- a program on ecological sanitary
- advocacy program
EcoCenter also organizes annually and conducts ecological actions, youth ecological camps and expeditions.
Youth EcoCenter is a member of International Socio-Ecological Union, a member of the WECF network (Women of Europe for Common Future), and a member of Central Asia network of Experts on ecological education.
The Youth Ecological Center of Dushanbe was first registered in 1997 and works with youth groups and the community to improve the ecological situation and promote sustainable development. The Center has an information service and resource center, as well as numerous community and youth programs related to ecological issues. The Center is funded by Act Central Asia, the Red Crescent of Tajikistan, CIDA, Relief International, WECF, Democracy Commission of US Embassy .
